World of Hyatt points are becoming my new favorite hotel redemptions for every day on the go hotel rooms. The Hyatt portfolio currently includes 20 premier brands with over 900 hotels in 65 countries. They offer some great hotels such as the Hyatt Place that we stayed at in Niagara Falls, and the amazing all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva in Jamaica. Learn our breakdown of how you can earn Hyatt points below. If you haven’t already, you can also check out how we earned 17 Hyatt nights from ONE credit card!

How to Earn World of Hyatt Points

There are a multitude ways of earning Hyatt points. In the past, you used to just get points for each stay you had at a Hyatt property. Now there are even more options and easier ways to quickly ramp up some Hyatt points. Even paid stays have ramped up a little bit and now get extra points.

Paid Stays at Hyatt Properties

As a World of Hyatt member, you can earn 5 points per dollar at Hyatt stays. You can also earn 5 points per dollar on dining, spa, and more purchases at certain locations. You can find the list here. If you are not a World of Hyatt Member, you can sign up for free here.

Hyatt Nights on Sale

“Free nights on sale. Get up to 25% back on redeemed points and free parking. Register by September 1, and stay by October 8, 2020.”

Hyatt is currently offering an amazing promotion of getting up to 25% redeemed points back of your World of Hyatt booking. If you are a World of Hyatt member, you can get 15% back plus free parking. However, if you are a World of Hyatt Credit Cardmember, you can get an extra 10% back, so 25% back on redemptions. That means if you book a room at 5,000 points you get 1,250 back (if you have the credit card). Huge win in my book.

Earn World of Hyatt Points with Rental Cars

Similar to earning Hilton Honors points with Rental Cars, World of Hyatt points can be earned with Avis Rental Car. Members can earn 500 points and up to 25% off base rates for each qualifying rental at participating Avis Locations Worldwide.

You can simply book your reservation with Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number K817700 on Avis.com and associate your World of Hyatt membership number with your Avis reservation.

Earn World of Hyatt Points with American Airlines

A favorite way to earn points is by double dipping. Luckily for you, if you fly American Airlines, you can now also earn some World of Hyatt points. This is in addition to your American Airline miles you will be earning.

Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist members will actually earn $1 World of Hyatt point for every $1 spent on a qualifying American Airlines Flight. To get this offer, just link your accounts here

Transfer Points from Chase Ultimate Rewards

Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to the World of Hyatt program at a 1:1 ratio. For example, 10,000 Ultimate Rewards points will equal 10,000 World of Hyatt points. It’s easy to transfer, simply login to your Chase Ultimate Rewards portal and click transfer rewards points. The transfer should be instant. We recommend only transferring the amount you need for a specific redemption.

Pool and Transfer Points between Friends and Family

World of Hyatt Members can transfer their points between accounts, free of charge. There are two quick caveats to note.

  • You can only transfer points once every 30 days
  • You can only transfer points to another member “in order to have a sufficient number of points to redeem a particular award”

To transfer Hyatt points, you must fill out this form (PDF file), and then email it to [email protected]. You must fill out your name, phone number, World of Hyatt number, mailing address, email address, and then both sign.

Earn World of Hyatt Points from Credit Cards

The fastest way to earn some World of Hyatt Points is by opening the Chase World of Hyatt Credit Card. You can typically earn around 50,000 World of Hyatt points after meeting the criteria. Not only do you get World of Hyatt points, each year on your card anniversary you will receive 1 free night that is valid at any 1-4 category property. You can also earn a second free night by spending $15,000 on the card in your membership year. (Note: this is not a calendar year. This is if you open the card June 1, 2020, you have until May 29, 2021, to spend the $15,000).

The World of Hyatt credit card will also give you automatic Discoverist status, which is the next tier from being a member.

Purchase Points

Running a little low on points? You can always purchase points in increments of 1,000 up to 55,000 points per calendar year.

Currently, through July 29th, 2020, you can earn 30% more Bonus Points when purchasing points. We typically do not recommend purchasing points unless you have a specific redemption for the points.

Basic Breakdown

World of Hyatt points are pretty easy to earn, and they have great redemption values which I enjoy. Some of my favorite stays would be at the Hyatt Place Niagara Falls where you can typically book a night for 12,000 points per night. The actual rate per night will vary based on the season. High season (summertime) I have seen rates over $200 a night. The points however, stay at the 12,000 per night which would give you an excellent points redemption value. Hyatt has some really great ways to earn points, and hotels that can be as luxurious as you want. Next up we will get into redeeming Hyatt points which we touched briefly on.  Be sure to check out our Basic Guide to Redeeming Hyatt Points (Coming Soon) for more!
