Types of Cards

There are 3 main Southwest Rapids Rewards Cards that are at the top of our Airline Credit Cards. I will quickly detail that you can choose from. All 3 have the offer of earning 65,000 rapid rewards points after spending $2,000 in 3 months.

  • Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Card- $69 annual fee, 3,000-anniversary points each year
  • Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Card- $99 annual fee, 6,000-anniversary points each year
  • Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Card- $149 annual fee, 7,500-anniversary points each year, $75 Southwest Travel Credit Each year (net cost of card: $74)

Personally, I’d go for the Priority Card. Yes, it has a higher annual fee. However, you get $75 back in Travel Credits when you are flying. You also get more anniversary points, as well as some other perks like 4 upgrades each year.

Note- you can only have ONE Southwest Personal Credit Card at a time. You cannot have earned a bonus on ANY Personal Southwest Rapid Rewards Card in the last 24 months. You CAN apply for a personal card if you have A Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Card.

Southwest Companion Pass

If you don’t know much about the Southwest Companion Pass, you can review our FULL review of how to get it here. Or you can also check out our FAQ’s on earning the Companion Pass. The basics are that you need to earn 125,000 points in one calendar year to get the pass or fly a ton of flights. The easiest way is with earning Southwest’s Rapid Rewards Points. You can then use those points to book your flights to fly FREE anywhere Southwest flies (minus taxes and fees).
