Starting on October 26th, Hyatt will be changing the structure of its reward program to reflect the addition of Peak and off-peak pricing. Typically when hotels programs change their programs it is not a good thing. Hotels tend to go up in price per point so it’s important to lock in the lower rates now while you still can!

New Award Chart

The biggest changes for me are taking place in category 1 and category 7/8. I loved being able to find consistent value at 5,000 point Hyatt places which will be much harder to find now. On the other end, premium hotels in categories 7 and 8 will both go up 5,000 points respectively.

Other Changes

The same Peak/Off-Peak changes are taking place across the All-Inclusive properties (Ziva/Zilara/Miraval), suites, and points + cash. You can find those rates by clicking here.

Hyatt Free Night Certificates

It’s important to note that the Hyatt Certificates will not be impacted by the Peak/Off-Peak pricing. This is awesome news when compared to Marriott that consistently prices hotels above the threshold for certificate redemption.

I’d suggest locking in any tentative hotel bookings now given you could cancel and be refunded your points later. You can use this Hyatt Search Portal to look at hotels broken down by their category.
