Most people that are regular readers of basic travel know how much we love airport lounges. Saving money on food and beverages while traveling can certainly add up. One lesser-known secret in the basic travel hacking community is that there are special airport restaurants that offer credit towards your bill. In order to be eligible, you need to be the owner of one of a few select credit cards. Learn which ones and more in our basic guide to priority pass restaurants!

Priority Pass 101
The Priority Pass network is a program that provides members access to over 1,300 airport lounges. Membership can either be purchased directly from Priority Pass or is a free perk included with seven different credit cards. Lounges include complimentary food, beverages, and high-speed wifi. Some lounges even include perks like a golf driving range, massages, and the ability to take a shower!
Priority Pass Restaurant Credits
A special group of restaurants also partner with the Priority Pass network. When visiting a restaurant, members will receive a credit towards the final bill. Typically the amount of credit will average around $28 for the cardholder and an additional $28 for one guest. One very important distinction to be made is that not all Priority Pass memberships come with the restaurant perk.

Which Credit Cards offer Priority Pass Restaurant Credits?
There are a few select credit cards that offer access to the Priority Pass restaurant credit. Let’s review all three below.
Chase Sapphire Reserve
The Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card provides it’s Priority Pass members with unlimited lounge visits – including restaurants. This is my favorite option for accessing Priority Pass Restaurants.
Authorized users of the Sapphire Reserve also receive their own Priority Pass membership which also includes unlimited visits.
Citi Prestige
Another great option that offers unlimited lounge and restaurant visits is the Citi Prestige Credit Card.
Authorized users of the Citi Prestige also receive their own Priority Pass membership which also includes unlimited visits.
U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve
The final option for Priority Pass restaurant access is the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Credit Card. Unlike the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Citi Prestige, the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve does not offer unlimited visits. Cardholders receive a maximum of four visits per year and an additional four guest passes.
Authorized users of the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve do not receive their own Priority Pass membership.
A note about American Express
Prior to August 1st, 2019 Amex did include the restaurant credits with their priority pass memberships.
How does it work?
Basically you tell the hostess before being seated that you’d like to use your priority pass membership card. The card will then be swiped and you will receive the credit designated for that restaurant (or double credit if you have a guest). You’ll find all of the credits for each restaurant below!
