How I earned $1000 while watching the Buffalo Bills Game

Every three to four months I review my finances and consider changing my checking and savings accounts depending on the Top Current Offers. When searching for these checking account offers; I’ll review both locally and nationally to compare the various options on the market. Many of these offers can be opened online in a matter of minutes. Once I find a few that make sense for me; I’ll pull the trigger and send a thank you card to my friends in the HR department 🙂
This time around, I found three great offers that were quite easy to set up and meet the requirements all while watching the Buffalo Bills Game!
Bank Of America $300 Checking Sign-up Bonus
This offer was actually emailed to me and I also was able to find it by logging into my Bank Of America online banking account. One of the requirements of this offer is being “targeted” which is usually pretty easy to do. A good strategy in order to try and get the same offer if you’re not “targeted” would be to give them a call or stop into a branch to enquire about the offer.
After clicking through the targeted link, I then need to create a new checking account with Bank of America before December 31, 2019.
The final requirement is to deposit at least $4,000 in direct deposits over a 90 day period. Special shoutout to my friends in HR who are very patient with my many direct deposit change requests!
Citizens Bank $500 Checking Sign-up Bonus
This offer was actually mailed to me on paper. YES, on paper! I know that it’s 2019 and you can find a ton of great checking account offers online but don’t overlook the offers you receive via snail mail. The current public offer is for $300 after a $500 direct deposit which you can find here.
Even though the $300 offer above is pretty great, my beautiful paper offer is for $500!
Step one is to open a new Citizens Bank Platinum Checking Account and make a single direct deposit of $1,000 within 60 days to earn a $400 Sign-up Bonus.
Step two is to complete 5 debit card purchases within 60 days to earn another $100 Bonus.
Citi Bank $200 Checking Account Sign-up Bonus
The last offer that I decided to take advantage of is a brand new Citi Bank promotion that just came out on the market. There are actually three options, that can earn you between $200 and $700. Based on the easy requirements for the $200 offer, I decided to go with that option. You can find the other Citi options here.
In order to earn the Citi Bank $200 Bonus, I had to follow the following steps.
Step one is to open a new Citi Bank Checking Account
Step two is to deposit $5,000 within 30 days of opening the account. It’s important to note that this does not need to be a direct deposit.
Step 3 is to maintain the minimum balance of $5,000 for 60 consecutive calendar days.
There you have it, 3 brand new checking accounts opened all while watching the Buffalo Bills defeat the Tennessee Titans! I’d like to say that this may have been one of my most productive Sundays of my life. Given that I usually like to open new checking accounts every 3-4 months, the next time I’ll be looking at the offers could very well be during a Buffalo Bills playoff game!
