Whether it’s your first, tenth, or one-hundredth time visiting Niagara Falls, New York, Hyatt Place is our favorite local hotel! Not only is it a great spot for staycations, but it is also our number one recommendation to friends visiting from out of town. Hyatt Place Niagara Falls recently underwent renovations and it is a beautiful and modern location. We love being able to get away for a night or two but still having a quick drive back home! If it is your first time visiting Niagara Falls, we wrote a comprehensive article on the Basics of visiting Niagara Falls. This will give you a brief overview of Niagara Falls, NY and determining if you should visit the US or Canadian side! For this trip, we decided to highlight our TOP reasons why we love staying at the Hyatt Place Niagara Falls!
Cost
We did write a review of our cost of the Hyatt in our Basics of Visiting Niagara Falls. But, just as a brief overview. The Hyatt Place Niagara Falls is a category 3 hotel. This means that booking a night at the Hyatt Place Niagara Falls will set you back 12,000 points a night! Summer prices definitely inflate the cost due to increased tourism. We recommend using points in the summer and if you want rates in the winter are around $100 or less if you find a good deal!
Here are our top 9 reasons why we love staying at Hyatt Place Niagara Falls!Â
#9 Indoor Pool
We had full intentions on taking a dip in the indoor and heated lap sized pool. This pool is not chlorinated, but instead, filled with Salt Water! This is much gentler on the skin and makes for a unique experience! We, unfortunately, seemed to run out of time to enjoy this amenity! We love that it is indoor though as the winters in Buffalo can definitely get harsh! Having the pool indoor (and on the first floor I might add) enables full use year round!
#8 24/7 Gym
With Lisa’s leg still healing, she is working on Physical Therapy daily with bike riding. Luckily our stay at Hyatt Place Niagara Falls did not deter her from any of her daily exercises to strengthen her muscles! Included inside this gym were treadmills, elliptical, bikes, and even free weights! They also offer free headphones that are individually wrapped.
If you are more into working out outside (especially in the beautiful summer months), there are plenty of trails nearby! A favorite of Lisa’s in college was hiking the Trailhead Niagara Gorge Hiking trail. It is about a half a mile walk from Hyatt Place and offers beautiful views of the river!
#7Â The Rooftop
The rooftop is AMAZING! We love relaxing up there and taking in the beautiful views. The first glimpse you catch of the rooftop is when you are driving up to Hyatt Place Niagara Falls. The bright red umbrellas on the top are super intriguing and we couldn’t wait to get up there! A cool thing to note is you can even get MARRIED on the rooftop! We caught a glimpse of the wedding set up on Sunday and it was outstanding.
Once on top of the roof, you can see the mist from the mighty Niagara Falls as well as a beautiful view of the Canadian Skyline! It even includes the famous Canadian Skylon Tower. It’s also a perfect sunset viewing area equipped with comfortable lounge chairs. There is even live music playing on the weekends and a bar serving delicious cold beverages.Â
#6 Great Food and Drinks
Hyatt Place offers a variety of delicious options from sunrise to sunset! Breakfast is made up of huge buffet including fresh fruit, monkey bread, waffles, coffee, juice and more. They even provide options such as cage-free eggs, all natural bacon, and a medley of breakfast potatoes!
For lunch and dinner; there is a full food and drink menu made of salads, soups, sandwiches, desserts, cocktails, and craft beer. We love the hummus spread and tomato bisque soup! To drink, a Big Ditch Hayburner and a Strawberry Mule Cocktail is our favorite Basic way to wind down the evening.
They also have an a-la-cart station where you can quickly grab a quick bite to eat if you are on the go! This is where we found the amazing Key Lime Pie Cheesecake and it did not disappoint.
#5 Locals Discount
Now if you’re a fellow Western New Yorker, you may not know that the Hyatt offers 20% off of your bill on food purchases! Knowing that we get an extra 20% plus 1.5% CashBack from using a cash back credit card helps support our choice to have a second slice of Key Lime Cheesecake for dessert 🙂
4. Spacious Rooms
The rooms at the Hyatt Place are fantastic! There’s so much extra space to spread out, relax and kick our feet up. We love taking in the views from the hotel window and seeing all of the action taking place outside downtown Niagara Falls. We also have to mention that the bathroom is ALWAYS clean! We travel a ton and I can say without a doubt that is not always the case.
3. Fireworks
All summer long there is a great fireworks show over the Niagara Falls and the view from the rooftop is PERFECT! The fireworks show goes off nightly at 10pm from June 17th until September 2nd. After September 2nd, you can catch the fireworks on weekends until October 14th. This is one of our favorite ways to spend our summer nights!
2. Hospitality
From check-in through check-out, the Hyatt Place Niagara Falls staff are top notch. Everyone is always so friendly and willing to accommodate us every time we visit. During our last stay, the staff even surprised Lisa with balloons and a bottle of champagne in our room for her birthday. They seriously treat us like family and we really appreciate their customer service!Â
1. Location
We love the location of the Hyatt Place Niagara Falls! Being only a short 6-minute walk to the Niagara Falls is so nice. We can wake up early and watch the sun light up the falls and stop back by at night as the sun goes down without having to get in our car once. This is especially nice if you decide to purchase a Niagara Falls State Park Discovery Pass. Given that the pass offers 5 excursions, it’s nice to break them up throughout the day and be able to walk back to the hotel for a nice mid-day siesta! 🙂
Another note- it is so close Lisa was actually able to crutch/walk around Niagara Falls. The area is very well paved and taken care of. We even ventured down to the Maid of the Mist tour! Anybody with a disability is able to get around this area fairly easily. All of the staff at Maid of the Mist would even let Lisa wait in one spot and ‘cut’ the line when I was in place near her so she didn’t have to crutch around. Super friendly and helpful!
Honorable Mentions
A few other items to note- there is free WiFi. Yes, most places have this nowadays but not always! When we travel this is major for us to be able to stay connected. The WiFi is fast and we had no issues with it at all. Hyatt Place Niagara Falls is also pet-friendly! You can check out their website for all of the rules but if you are on a road trip with the family, you don’t have to leave Sparky behind!
Final Note
There are so many reasons we enjoy coming back to Hyatt Place Niagara Falls. Let us know if you have visited, and if you have something else that you LOVE as well! The location of Hyatt Place Niagara Falls makes a perfect spot that is walkable to see plenty of main attractions in the area. The biggest one being, of course, Niagara Falls. There are also plenty of restaurants, souvenir shops, and activities just steps away from their entrance.
