It’s no surprise that I’m a big fan of IHG Rewards Club when it comes to solid point redemptions, loads of opportunities to earn bonus points, and worldwide availability. In fact, one of my all-time favorite long weekend trips was to Milwaukee Wisconsin. That weekend we stayed in an IHG Kimpton Property and loved every minute of it. They had complimentary bicycles for us to explore the city with, a fantastic room with beautiful decor, and a fun happy hour in the evening!
Status Match
Today I learned about a new opportunity to earn an elevated status with IHG. This is through a status match promotion they are offering. By matching another hotel status; you will have the chance to become either Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, or Spire Elite. Depending on which status you match, you will then have an opportunity to retain that status through 2020 by staying at IHG properties.
As far as I could tell, IHG does not indicate anywhere online what competitors status will match to which IHG status. I decided to use my Hilton Diamond Status and fingers crossed that I get matched to Spire Elite! That would be an awesome surprise given we have some international travel coming up and a good bank of IHG points to use.

Final Thoughts
This is one of the easiest status match opportunities. If you are going to be staying at an IHG property, then I’d definitely match my status to get some type of perks!
