There’s a new card in town and it comes with a big punch. Capital One announced their first higher-end credit card and I have to say- I’m impressed. Shaking up the credit card industry, Capital One recently announced new Capital One Lounges, as well as new transfer partners for Venture Miles. Now, the New Capital One Venture X is coming in with a strong offer and perks- all for a much lower fee than the comparable high-end Chase Sapphire Reserve Card or American Express Platinum Card. So let’s break down the benefits of the card.

Capital One Venture X Welcome Offer

Right off the bat, you can earn a 75,000 welcome offer after $4,000 spend in the first 3 months. This gives it a value of $750+ in travel. The annual fee is $395, and it comes with over $600 in value. This card launched on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021. The benefits far outweigh the annual fee of the card.

  • 75,000 after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months
  • Recieve up to $300 annualy in statement credits for bookings through Capital One Travel
  • Recieve up to $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck

Earning Rates

Capital One Venture X‘s earning rates are pretty great whether you are traveling or for everyday purchases. Booking through the Capital One Travel portal will earn you an extra 5x on flights or 10x on hotels and car rentals. This is a pretty great rate for earning extra value per dollar.

  • 10x on hotels and rental cars
  • 5x on flights booked via Capital One Travel
  • Earn 2X miles on every purchase

Other Capital One Venture X Benefits

Staying Competitive with other high branded cards, the Captial One Venture X card will give you 10,000 credits annually on your account anniversary just for keeping the card open. There are no spending requirements, and this is automatic. If you book through Capital One Travel, you can also get up to $300 annual credit. Next up you can enjoy the typical $100 TSA PreCheck or Global Entry. Honestly, these benefits are pretty spectacular for the price you will pay for the card. Lets check out some of the other benefits:

  • Up to $300 annual credit for bookings made on Capital One Travel
  • 10,000 bonus miles every account anniversary ($100 per year towards travel)
  • Unlimited access to Capital One Lounges and 1,300+ Priority Pass Lounges internationally
  • $100 credit for either TSA PreCheck or Global Entry once every 4 years
  • Cell Phone Insurance
  • Travel Insurances (Including trip delay, trip cancellation, primary rental car, and lost luggage)
  • Complimentary Hertz President’s Circle status
  • Shopping protections (purchase protection, return protection, and extended warranty coverage)

Lounge Access

Airport Lounge access is one of my favorite benefits with premium credit cards. Being able to enjoy complimentary food and drinks while waiting for your flight just makes everything that much better. On our $70,000 6-week Honeymoon adventure, we visited multiple lounges including many locations at Priority Pass, Lufthansa First in Germany, and Qatar Airways in Qatar. Lounge access has saved us hundreds over the years on food and drinks while traveling. The perks for Capital One Lounge Access include unlimited access to Capital One Lounges and Priority Pass lounges with up to 2 guests. Lounge access for Priority Pass does not include restaurant access.

Authorized User

With Capital One Venture X you can add up to 4 authorized users for no additional fee. Even better- Authorized Users on the card each get their own lounge access. This means they can each bring in 2 additional guests to lounges.

Captital One Lounges

Capital One announced in July 2021 they would be launching 3 new locations- Dallas (DFW), Denver (DEN), and Washington Dulles (IAD). Some amenities of the lounges are to include:

  • Grab and Go food
  • Dining Stations
  • Lounge Bar
  • Coffee Bar
  • Luggage Lockers
  • Shower Suites
  • Relaxation Rooms
  • Parents Rooms
  • Cycling and Yoga Rooms

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)

DFW’s flagship lounge opened for business on November 4th, 2021. Located in Terminal D after security and open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. You can find the lounge near D22, which is just down the terminal from American Express’s Centurion Lounge near gate D12.

Denver International Airport (DEN)

Denver Capital One Lounge is expected to open at some point in 2022 and will be located in Concourse A on the Mezzanine level.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Lastly, the IAD Capital One Lounge is expected to open sometime in summer 2022. This will be located in the main terminal after TSA.

Basic Review

I’m really impressed with this card. Capital One Venture X has the LOWEST premium card annual fee, plus perks that are valued at over $500 in the first year, this card truly is a no-brainer. With the $300 annual travel credit and $100 annual anniversary bonus, this card more than pays for itself. Not only is it a great travel card for those who maybe don’t travel enough to capitalize on the $550+ high-end cards, but for those who do travel often. Capital One Venture X cardmembers can take advantage of extra earning potential at 2x, new Capital One Lounges, easily adding Authorized users for free (great for big families),
