If you are under 5/24, and don’t currently have the Chase Freedom Flex℠ card– now is the chance to get it! There are a few reasons, I will get into momentarily. First I will say if you don’t have a sapphire product yet (such as Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card– I would be sure to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred first as you will have better offers and a higher welcome offer. Overview

First, let’s talk about some of the incredible benefits this NO ANNUAL FEE card has. A great welcome offer with a low spending limit in the first 3 months, as well as 5% cashback quarterly categories. The card will also give you 5x on travel purchases through the Chase portal, and 3x on dining at restaurants and drugstores.   • $0 Annual Fee
  • 5% on travel purchased through Chase
  • Earn 5% Cash Back up to $1,500 in purchases in each quarter you activate
  • 3% on dining at restaurants, including takeout and delivery, and drugstores purchases

Why Now?

The Chase Freedom Flex Double Dip is great for Quarter 1, which is January through March. This quarter is currently offering 5% on grocery stores. It also has 5x on grocery store purchases for the first year up to $12,000. What that means for you is that you can combine the two promos for 9% cash back. Let’s break it down. You get 1% for the purchase, an additional 4% on grocery stores, and an additional 4% on Quarter 3 spending categories. You can see this breakdown below on my grocery store purchase. 12 month 5x Groceries

5% cash back on groceries the first year up to $12,000 spend is great to maximize your grocery store spending. If you max this out, you will get 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points. This promotion has ended.To earn even more, these points can be transferred to a Sapphire product. This can give you 25% or 50% more on the Pay Yourself Back portal. Essentially turning the 60,000 points to $750 or $900 cash back! Pay Yourself Back option gives you 25% more with the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card or 50% more with Chase Sapphire Reserve.


Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

Earn 60,000 bonus points once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is one of our favorite Travel cards in our wallet.

  • Earn a $50 hotel credit annually when you book a stay through the Chase Travel Portal
    • Earn 5x UR when booking travel through the Chase Portal
  • 3x on dining, select streaming services and online grocery purchases (excluding Target, Walmart, and Wholesale clubs). Also excludes in-store grocery purchases

Basic Breakdown

In the first year of having this card, you could earn up to 110,000 Ultimate Rewards Points for a NO annual fee card. This is a pretty decent bonus and a great way to dip your toes into the points & miles world. Here is the breakdown for your earnings:

  • 20,000 from the welcome offer
  • 60,000 from the grocery 5x up to $12,000 This is no longer available
  • 30,000 from 5x quarterly categories
    ** Note if you double dip with groceries remember it is 1x base rate and then an additional 4x. So essentially it is 9x not 10x**
